End of the year.

As the year draws to a close, it feels right to do a summation of how things have progressed. To be honest, starting this blog was done as a exercise in getting started (on the cheap) in the world of online business. Granted, it has been a heck of a learning curve (and still learning), but overall it's been fun and interesting.

New Products
In the upcoming year, I will try to make a point of at least trying out 1 new product per month that relates to running a online business. This will mean that I'll give the product a good test run, and then report back if it is worth spending your money on. The good thing about the majority of the products I'll be test driving is that they offer a money-back guarantee. I probably won't be asking for my money back on any of them as long as they can do one thing for me.

Teach me something new and of value. Regardless of the purchase price, if the material can show me something that is of value to me, then the price is worth it.

Comparison to Higher Level Education

I've used this analogy before, but consider the costs involved with going to college to be a lwayer. You will have your initial tuition fees, and then your book fees. What guarantee do you have that you will succeed as a lawyer?

None. They will tell you that if you work hard, and apply yourself, then you should do well enough to be able to enter the 2nd year. More tuition fees, book fees, apply yourself, work hard...and then on to your 3rd year. After you mamage to complet the course, you still have to pass the bar exam for your state.

After all of that, you still haven't landed your first client.

Running a online business isn't quite that complicated. You are still going to have start-up costs, and you should make a point of trying to stay current with any literature that can assist you in promoting and running your business. Just keep in mind that if you expect to be rich overnight, then you are in for disappointment.

Writing as a way of making money online

I've done a previous post on the subject of article writing as a way of making money online. In that post, I provided a link to a product that I felt would help those (like myself) who wanted to be able to write better articles.

Write top quality articles for your website. Click here for more information

I'm not just recommending this product, I've actually bought it myself, and I do make regular use of it. I've mainly used it to help in creating articles I've used for this blog when it came to subjects that I had some knowledge in. Those of you who may have read that earlier post may think (and rightfully so) that it's a good idea, but why bother?

There are 2 sites online that will pay you for well written articles. I will provide the links to those and what is required. There are only 2 of many possible places that will pay you for your writings.

Yes, there is a catch. Mainly that they aren't going to buy just anything that you decide to toss out to them. It would be very nice if it worked that way, but life seldom goes the way we want. Before giving in to despair, both places will tell you upfront what is required in articles submitted.

Personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/pay-per-post-we-buy-articles

Now, the above link goes to a payday loan business. Here is a brief description from them about their article buying process:
"Normally we price articles at about $0.05 cents per word to a maximum of $25 per article. For those who submit articles and whose articles develop a readership or attract a significant amount of other sites linking to our own, we then may pay more to motivate that author to produce more content. Depending on your skill level, it may not be difficult to write one 525 word article."

So, you already know that they will mainly be interested in articles about the loan business. They even provide the keywords that they want in submitted articles, and where they should be placed. I submitted a article a few days ago (having made use of my copy of the article wizard) and received the following yesterday:
"Hi,

We have been reviewing your submitted article and are very interested in it. Can you resubmit it through a return email to this address? Thanks."

Thank goodness I'd saved a copy of the silly thing. I resubmitted it to the attached address, and I'm waiting for the reply now. I'll post again if I get the sale. If so, then I would have made back almost 40% of the purchase price of the software with 1 sale.

elance.com

With elance.com, this is more of a specific detail per article deal. Once you go to their site, you'll navigate thru the tabs for "Find Work", "writing and translation" and finally to "Article writing". Once you're there, you'll see numerous article writing jobs that are up for bid. The person wanting the articles will state what they want, and then prospective writers will respond with how much they want to be paid for the job. Obviously the person with the lowest bid will most likely get the job, but those with good rating can ask for more.

If you are knowledgeable in the subjects, or have a good skill for research, then these should be easy for you to do. Please feel free to go there now and see just what is available for you.

Once again, if you are interested in this area as a way of making money online, but feel your skills are lacking, I do recommend using the Article Wizard. Once again, here is the link:

Two of the best free advertising tools

In online advertising, one of the problems you’ve come across (aside from what to sell) is generating keywords (adwords) for your business’ advertising campaign. You obviously want these keywords to properly represent your business, but you also want to cover areas that don’t immediately spring to mind. You’ve probably already seen information that says to make a list of over 1,000 keywords, and others that say just a few keywords that really sell your idea.

Both of these areas are correct. You do want to have a few essential adwords. These will be at the heart of the business campaign. The additional adwords will help to draw attention to your business, and in a way that is really what advertising is about.

The amazing thing about the internet is that there are millions of people surfing the web at any given moment. This is the equivalent of millions of people walking by the door to a shop. If the shop doesn’t have a sign out front to catch the attention of the customer, that traffic will continue to just walk past.

The tools I will be discussing, when used separately, are excellent. But when they are used together as a system? The synergy is amazing! Your ability to sell should increase.

Bear in mind that when using Google (I say “Google” because they are rated as the #1 search engine), or any other search engine for your pay per click campaign, that you will be paying everytime someone clicks your ad. One of the tools I will be speaking about is avaialble, for free use, through Google. If you ever want to get a reference on how much you might have to pay per click of google ads for your business, this is the one to use.

https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox

This one is amazing. You enter, line by line, the main adwords you want to use. You can enter the amount to pay per click (or leave it blank if you want to know the amounts at max) and also the daily budget for your campaign. Another part that I find amazing is that it allows you to target the geographical areas for your ads. The results will show the potential amount of clicks, and the cost per day for those.

This next tool is also available online, and might fall into the category of secret information. I like to think (and maybe you do as well), that to be successful, you should try to copy success. If you’re in the business of making money online, then that means looking at the most successful online sellers, and then copying what they are doing. Here’s the tool to help you with that.

http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword-density/index.php

Okay, what makes this one so amazing?
Simple, there are 2 ways it can be used to help you if you have advertising going to a web page or a landing/splash page. First, you can use it to analyze your own page and ensure that you have a good count of those words.

Now comes the secret part. Perform google searches (or whatever search engine you prefer) on some of your core adwords. Check for the top ads that seem to relate to your own business (or what you have to sell). Click those ads so that you end up at the advertisers page, and then copy the web address. Paste that address into the Keyword Density Analyzer Tool. Now you can get a fair indication of some of your competitor’s adwords.

Now, make a list of those, go back to the Traffic Estimator, and find out what it might cost you to use them.

At this point a magician might say “Ta-Dah”!

Making money in difficult times.

It might seem that this would be a difficult time to be starting up a new business, especially considering that it has been confirmed that we are in a recession (those of us in the USA). This is actually a very good time to get started, as I’ll explain.

People will be trying to get by without spending as freely as they once did. This means that they will not be calling on electricians when they need minor electrical/plumbing repairs done. Granted, for the really big jobs the call to the professionals will still happen, but for hanging a ceiling fan?

Two ideas spring to mind to meet those particular needs. The first (since I am partial to working online) would be to become a reseller of “How To” manuals for simple home repairs. If you check around you are bound to find a few e-books on the subject matter, in fact you could just act as the go-between for the buyer and the seller.

Another , hands on method, would to become a handyman. When I was a child, there was an older gentleman in my neighborhood. He would do minor repair work, and give a honest opinion if a professional should be called for the job. He did ceiling fan installation, minor plumbing…he even installed a water heater for my parents at one time. He would normally receive $30-$50 per job (which was less than half what professionals would charge). This might not seem like a lot, but he typically did about 20 jobs a week for a neighborhood consisting of 6 residential blocks. Those rates were also in 1970’s money.

Word of mouth was a wonderful promotion tool for him, and should always be a part of your own business plan. Get your customers to recommend you to their friends and family. Someone’s social network will always be better for the promotion of your business than simple advertising.

Let’s go to a much older idea for a home business. This one is really tied in to the downturn in the housing market. Take a walk thru your neighborhood. Check for the houses that have “For sale” signs on them, and no one living there. When you have a fairly decent list of these, contact the agency selling them houses (mostly it will be banks and mortgage companies). Find out who is in charge of those particular properties, and offer your services for general yard clean-up.

Inform them that you are available for mowing the grass, trash clean-up, and snow removal. Set a schedule for how often you will perform these tasks per month, and set a monthly fee. With a fee of only $40 per month, most will accept your offer. Why? because a house that looks well maintained will always sell more frequently than a house that looks “shabby”. In many cases your fee will be less than the possible fines a town might give for the grass not being mowed.

Once again, if you are fair with these organizations, they will spread the word for you, and supply you with additional business.

Some thoughts on effective marketing

Effective advertising is a piece of a whole marketing strategy. Advertising should never be thought of as separate from marketing, simply because whenever a business advertises it is either supporting (or not supporting) the primary message and that defines the business. First and foremost, effective advertising is important for the product to reach various markets. Advertising catches the attention of the customer, however if its not going to be effective, its not going to serve the designated purpose.

The ability to reach your target market is the main goal .Your message has to have meaning for them, and the placement of your message is just as important. If your target group lives in a warm climate, an ad about enjoying a hot bowl of soup on a snowy day is not going to be the best of ideas. Targetted advertising is about participation. Effective advertising is one that causes the brand to be added to the consumers’ consideration set. The third factor , of course, is to lead to the consumers’ action, change attitudes and perception, and finally to purchase that brand. In a way, it’s a dance. The consumer is your partner, and is willing to go along with you as long as you are taking them where you both wish to go.

Considering that relatively few people are employed in the advertising industry, it can be amazing that businesses spend a lot of money on advertising. Buying the exposure time in the media does take up the bulk of the money- the most popular mediums are newspapers , television and radio . Business is involved with profit and concrete ways of achieving it. .

It was not expected for ads to do any actual, immediate selling. However, over the last decade-and-a-half, it has been demostrated that ads also have the power to persuade the consumer to buy. Advertisers advertise because competitors advertise, that is the main drive to advertise. If you can get away without advertising, save your money. In conveying new information, building awareness, (enhancing credibility, etc.) advertising has short-term power. The long-term power is seen by conveying brand image, attaching emotional values to the brand, building positive reputation, etc. The great power of advertising is seldom achieved in practice, but you shouldn’t give up.

One of the biggest expenses for any new business can be advertising, and for good reason. You can’t survive without effective advertising and effective advertising is expensive. This expense can be seen not only as money spent , but also in time spent researching. Advertising on the Internet is no different from other advertising media. It's a charge for each person who sees your message.

Internet ads are now following close behind. Website visitors will read and click on your advertisements when they are delivered in context with a specific search or area of interest. Your ad will be read when they read news in your product category.

Consumers will trust a feature in a reputable magazine (such as Car & Driver, or Consumer Reports) describing why the Ford Taurus is the best in its class more than they will a slick advertisement from Ford claiming that it stands above the competition. A reputation of safety wasn’e gained by Volvo through advertising. Before talking to a sales person, consumers prefer being informed , even if they plan on making their purchase off-line. An excellent example can be seen in the way that many car buyers are researching the fair price for the car they're interested in purchasing before they go to a dealership.

It should always be remembered that honest, congruent (and therefore effective) advertising is what we are seeking as a end result. From the profession and skill of advertising there are some valuable lessons to be learned . If the presented material treats the reader as intelligent, honest copy is more effective than "hype copy". Readers will believe honesty but see through hype.

A few words about home based business

Home based businesses have seen a dramatic increase in recent years. Many people are finding that working 9 to 5 is just not working as well as past decades. Home based businesses are flourishing. For many people the dream of being their own boss makes work at home employment their first choice. People are choosing to create their own jobs at home instead of traditionally seeking employment elsewhere. These businesses are now recognized as a viable source of new jobs and economic growth.

Among the difficulties facing home-based workers is that they often feel isolated from information and others with whom they could discuss home-based work issues. There are existing newsletters and many online support organizations provide a forum for discussions.

Home-based work requires a great deal of self-discipline, as we all have reason to know it can be difficult to get out of bed on a chilly morning. Home based businesses are fantastic for their flexibility, but you need to have the discipline to take time off and manage your time. Like many areas that we wish to succeed in, it can be a problem when find yourself so caught up in your business that you don’t take time for the other parts of your life.

For those who have children at home, there is the additional hazard of letting them know that, even though you are at home, you are still at work . Still, it is possible to schedule out time for them (and yourself, after all one of the resons you chose to work from home was to spend more time with family).

In practice, self-discipline is often difficult to test for in advance, unless the person has past experience in working from home, such as telecommuting positions or has been working as an independent contractor for some time.

While 2008 has brought new business challenges ( tighter lending standards, higher prices for energy and weaker consumer spending) a home-based business can tap the advantage of an agile, cost-efficient framework.

Thru experience, it has been shown that home-based businesses are no more risky (likely of going losing money/capital in the next 12 months) than non-homebased businesses. Experienced veterans in the field will tell you that when setting up a new business, one of the important things that can keep you going during the critical early days are encouraging signs. There is nothing more encouraging and inspiring than seeing small signs of success, such as your home based business starting to make some money or at least generating some sales and cash.

When thinking of ways to promote your new venture, online marketing is key to tapping into that success. Online marketing has shown itself to be the fastest growing flow of cash ever seen especially in this time of total financial panic. The cool thing about this is that you DON’T need your own product to promote.

Advertsing can basically be seen as a means to drive traffic to your business. In a teraditional retail business, the main idea is “LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION”. Online businesses (and advertisers) know that, world wide, there are hundreds of millions of people with internet access. This means that there are hundreds od millions of people in the form of “traffic” for your business. You just have to let them know you’re there.

Advertisers now have the ability to place their ads (text, banner, etc.) on very specific pages devoted to certain types of content and products. So if you are selling wool scarfs, you can have your ad appear on a site only when it is presenting an article on the wool scarf industry.

Advertising on the web is cheaper, and more flexible than traditional, offline ways. With the tools available thru the many search engines , advertising is also extremely measurable. It’s possible to see instant results on how well an ad camapign is doing, not only in terms of leads, but also actual sales.

Perhaps there are some special hobbies or talents that you possess, or maybe you’ve developed skills in areas such as writing or web design . You may even be a good salesperson, or have a drive to succeed; any of these gifts might be enough to start a home based business.

Online Marketing

There are a few questions that often come up in regards to affiliate niche marketing. Google (and the other search engines) may have shown you a lot of ideas, but no real answers. Hopefully I can answer these questions for you, and help you on your way to success with your online business.

"If the information they are selling works so well, then why are they selling it? Shouldn't they keep it to themselves? What makes these online advertisers experts?"

These are excellent questions. I will provide a few examples that should be of help for you and your web business. It's okay to be skeptical (heck, go ahead and be cynical), but there really are some good reasons involved.

If you attend a college (or community college), you pay a fee for your respective courses. You then pay a separate fee for the books required for the courses. This is the process of paying for knowledge.

Brian Tracy (a self-help author whose talks and seminar topics include leadership, sales, managerial effectiveness, and business strategy) says that by reading 15 minutes a day, you can become an expert in your field in just a few years, much faster than if you just tried learning from your own mistakes through trial and error.

Imagine that you have a store that sells knitted scarfs. You may provide some of the best knitted scarfs in your area, and advertise that expertise thru any number of ways. Yet there are other stores in your area that are also competing for the customers who buy the same product. You have to find a way to separate yourself from the rest of the crowd, so you try to find a niche. After a google search, you find out that there is a demand for scarfs done in the style of Doctor Who (the 4th Doctor) and Harry Potter. You begin to advertise about those items, and you start to notice a increase in your sales.

Due to the increasing power of the internet, advertisers are discovering that the entire world can be their area for sales. The web connects people online in many ways, and the better advertisers know just how to make this work to their advantage.

You want the information from successful internet marketers in order to make your own business successful. Those same successful internet marketers are willing to tell you what to do to become successful, without going thru the same trial and error that they had to endure.

A smart man learns from his own mistakes. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others. To the ladies who may be reading this, please don't take offense, I'm just reciting an old quote.

The upshot is this: do you want to be smart or wise?

Should you choose not to pay for what they have to offer, then you will pay more in time and effort (not to mention money) by trying to find your own way.

Affiliate niche marketing is simply promoting a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers. With the proper research (and the guidance on how to go about that research thru google searches), it is possible to achieve success with affiliate niche marketing.

Tips to speed up a slow computer

Your computer seems to have come to a crawl, down from those excellent speeds you enjoyed when you first started it up. Computer repair might seem to be high on your list at this time. Well, you're not alone. It's a very common problem that we all have to face.

Before you take your PC to the computer repair shop, there are a few things that can be done to increase your PC speed. It could just be that you're on a older model, and you've had the chance (at work, friend's place, etc.) to make use of a newer PC, so yours appears slower by comparison. Also, many newer applications run at a faster pace and use more memory then in the past.

Before seeking computer repair assistance, here are a few simple steps you can take to give some more pep to your computer's step.

Uninstall unused programs. Take a look at programs that you haven't used in a long while, or simply no longer have a need for and get rid of them. While you're at it, click Start, and then Run. Type in "msconfig" in the search box, and hit enter. Then click the Start-up tab and look over the items listed. Some of them should be left alone (needed by Windows), but other ones? If you don't really need them coming up when you start Windows, then de-select them.

Scan for virus and spyware. If you already have a anti-virus/anti-spyware utility, then you should be in good shape. If you don't have one, or simply want a good working free version, I'd like to suggest ThreatFire. It does a very good job at detecting threats before most other companies even label them as threats. You can download a copy at
ThreatFire.com .

Defragment your hard drive. This is something that should fall under the category of "Once a month" maintenance. Your computer doesn't always store new info as one lump on your hard drive. It will stick bits and pieces in every available spot. A defragment will allow your PC to go ahead and put all those bits and pieces into some form of order, and that will help to speed it up when it goes looking for those files.

If you've had your PC for any length of time, you really should go ahead and clean up your registry. There has been some debate over whether or not PC registry cleaners really work. I've noticed a definite improvement on my computer after using a PC registry cleaner. You've probably trashed some files, and possibly downloaded music (and removed them) from your computer. Unfortunately the registry may still contain some of those old "paths" to contents no longer around. Here are a few links to some very good Registry Cleaners.

RegitryFix.com
RegistryEasy.com
ErrorSmart.com . Vista Certified

These are some the fastest and simplest things you can do to speed up your comp, without going into the hardware contents of your PC.

Pay Per Click Advertising.

Pay Per Click advertising is really causing the online marketing industry to explode at this time. Whether you make use of pay per click banner advertising, or use the humble adwords pay per click ads, this is a area that truly is making money for many people. The major problem that happens often for people is when they don't properly manage their pay per click advertising.

Hmmm, I think I'll just shorten "Pay per click" to "PPC" from this point on. he great thing about PPC is that it costs the people clicking the ads nothing (okay, maybe the few seconds to actually click an ad).

Let's try to see this whole PPC advertising from a couple of different ways.

There's the case where you have a physical item you want to sell. Maybe you make designer dresses for dolls, or custom rocking horses for toddlers. You can make signs and flyers for your immediate area, and place ads in your local newspaper. But if you want to take advantage of the power of the internet, you are talking about either having your own online business, making use of Ebay, or simply having a webpage and using PPC advertising to get your product out to the public notice.

What is so great about PPC ads (whether you are using Google, Yahoo, MSN, or one of several other search advertisers), is that you can set the price for how much you want to pay when someone clicks your ad. The price can be as low as $0.01 per click in some cases. This is less than if you were to print up a lot of flyers to pass out (or simply gather dust somewhere). Depending on your PPC bid, your ad can be among the first (if not the TOP 1) when someone does a search for a adword (or keyword) connected to your business.

You can set the PPC search marketing so that it is only shown in a localized area, or take it to a global scale.

I am not going to recommend a particular PPC search engine for your advertising, but I will say that you should check out the features that each has to offer. The majority of them can offer you (for no charge) some basic tools to help you with your selection of keywords, whether your PPC bid is too low for a top spot , and also help you with PPC management in regards to some of the keywords you will be using.

Keep in mind that with PPC search engine advertising, the various search engines want you to succeed. Think of it this way, the more customers clicking your ad to go to your site, the more money the search engines make.

To make use of the pay per click banner advertising plans, or to go with the more simplistic "ad on the side"? This is really a personal choice that you might want to make with a eye towards the amounts you want to spend. I will provide links to a few software tools that can be beneficial to your online efforts. These particular tools also offer a money back guarantee, and the company they are available thru is PayPal Verified.

Online Business Opportunities

We all know that online businesses are growing by leaps and bounds. There was the Dot-Com bust that happened a few years ago, but the business opportunities available online have managed to come back stronger than before. This is due to the natural growing pains that happen thru all business ventures. Those early pioneers were just beginning to stretch their legs, and of course they tried to run before they were really walking.

One of the chief business opportunites that has appeared on the horizon has been in the realm of affiliate marketing. It's not exactly new, there has been a number of affiliate marketing ideas thru-out the years (although the terms were different before). The basic idea for affiliate marketing is that someone comes up with a solid product, they give it a money-back guarantee, and then they have other people do the actual marketing of the product.

Google Hijack...Click Here!

The affiliates are able to cover a much larger area than the original person. A good affiliate program will then make sure that the affiliate is rewarded with a good share of the sale price for the item.

Another good sign of health for a affiliate program is in the way they accept payments. We all know that in this day and age, the vast majority of credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are cracking down on fraud, and that fraudulent charges can be taken care of with a simple phone call. If you add in the "PayPal" option, then you are very sure of the legitimacy of the seller. Paypal is very quick to shut down anyone who isn't top notch.

Digital information downloads are certainly the rising star in the affiliate programs available for online businesses. We've all heard that "Knowledge is Power", so that also means that information is money. If someone were to offer you info that would allow you to earn extra cash from home, or even make enough money to be able to take that vacation you always wanted, then just how much would you be willing to spend for it?

When you find yourself reading over these words (and maybe reading thru them again), then you might permit yourself to know the fact that affiliate marketing is the business opportunity you've been looking for.

Some of my recent posts may have come across as business opportunities, or ways to earn cash from home (not to mention sounding like advertising for affiliate marketing). There is a very good reason for that, and I hope you'll be patient with me as I go along.

Idiot Proof Clickbank Trick Makes $6,513 In 24 Hours

Is there a favorite TV show that you like to watch? On Mondays I like watching "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, and then change the channel to catch "Heroes" on NBC. "House M.D." is another have to watch show. Like many people, i will go on and on about these shows to anyone who will listen (and quite a few times to those who care less....noticed by their eyes glazing over). In a way, I am providing advertising for these shows. Too bad I can't earn cash from home for all the additional viewers I may have sent to these shows.

How about a movie that you've gone to the theater to see? If it was a good one, then you probably came back and raved about it to your friends, encouraging them to go and see it on the big screen. Almost sounds as if you are into affiliate marketing, doesn't it? The big difference is that you're not seeing a dime from the studios. So much for that business opportunity.

As a way to make money on the internet, and earn cash from home, if you happen across a product or service that makes you happy (ecstatic, jumping up and down...you get the picture), and there is a chance for you to make money with that product thru affiliate marketing...then go for it!!

Maybe you won't rake in piles of money, or maybe you will. But there is the possibility that you will make money just by doing what you've done in the past for movies and TV shows.

Which is, letting other people know how much you like the product/service, and where they can get their hands on it.

Fixing your Xbox 360

I'll be honest with you, I am not a "early adopter" when it comes to the area of technology. This lesson was drilled into me some years back when VCRs first hit the scene. My parents were among those that went out and bought the HUGE machine that only pulled in some 13 channels and was not cable ready. It cost them over $800....and then 3 years later there were 4 head models that were cable ready for 110 channels. The newer models were in the $250 range as well.

www.xbox360redlightfix.com

When it comes to the infamous "3 red lights" on the Xbox 360, I was quickly reminded of a problem that the PS2 had shortly after it came out. The original model had some problems with the way the laser lens was set-up. It quickly became a full blown problem for many people who owned them, and Sony was trying to hang tough by sticking with their original 90 day warranty on the systems.

Of course, they did end up reaching a point where they had to admit the problem existed, and extend the warranty to cover the repairs of the game systems. Of course, you still had to pay the postage for returning it to them, and wait for it to be sent back.

Well, since you're reading this post, then you've most likely encountered the general hardware failure for the 360 that is represented with 3 red lights. My son works for a major game retailing chain, and says that several times a week they have customers come in complaining about the 3 light problem. Microsoft did learn from the mistakes of Sony, and they have extended the original warranty to cover 3 years on the early 360 models.

Should you choose to take them up on their kind offer, be aware that you will probably be stuck with the shipping costs, and that it will take some weeks before you see your game console again.

The reason this situation reminded me of the PlayStation 2 problem (aside from the hazards of new technology) is that at that time, tech savvy people were able to come up with solutions to fix the problem. In fact, there were several guides created and sold online thru EBay that were very good in detailing exactly how a person could go about repairing their console.

And...you guessed it, some tech savvy people have now done the same in regards to the XBox 360. They call their guide the Xbox 360 Red Light Fix Pro Gamer Edition®. They offer streaming video turtorials, and also immediate download for the material.

Oh, and the "towel trick" you may have heard of? It rates right up there with the "lean the console" trick for the PS2. It did occasionally work...but never for any real length of time.

But then again, maybe you like 5 to 10 minute gaming sessions.

Getting Adwords Ads for free???

Being able to get free pay per click ads thru Google's Adwords program does seem like a bit of a stretch, right? After all, Google is a big company that has really proven itself in the past, so they are not about to let anything take away from their ability to make a profit. Yet, there is someone who claims that it is possible to run your online advertising campaign for free.

This man has not only used his ideas (a twist on a previously existing, offline strategy) to make himself successful, but is now showing how he did it.

Advertising has really taken a big jump in the last several years, especially online advertising. Not that many years ago, the prices for home computers was so high that many people just couldn't afford them. With the increasingly fast rate of advancement in the tech fields, computers have not only dropped in price, but also become better along the way.

It used to be that to advertise a particular item, you would go the traditional route of newspaper ads, billboards, flyers, etc. Now, with the internet so easily available, the method of choice is websites and online ads. Thru the internet, it is possible to reach a much larger amount of customers than ever before.

A key component to advertising online is the use of keywords associated to the ad. Many people will have a clear mind set on the main words associated with their product, but will also then try to expand their list of keywords to include as many variations as possible. You really want your potential customer to be able to connect with you, so you try to give them as many ways to do this.

Keywords are adwords. When you set up a online Pay Per Click ad, one of the choices that will be given to you is how much do you want to spend on a adword. This is an important choice, because when your ad shows up (due to a customer making a word search, or alongside someone else's page) it will be due to one of your adwords. When the customer clicks that ad, not only will they be directed to your website, you will be billed for that click based on the amount you set.

It is a reality of business that in order to maximize profits, a reduction in costs is needed. If you can find a keyword that can produce as well as another, more expensive word, then it's just good business sense to use it. Often it just happens that the best word for your pay per click ad happens to be one that, if you want good exposure, you're going to have to pay more.

The various search engines will provide you with tools to help estimate the costs for the different adwords, and also show you the potential amount of clicks per day to expect with a particular adword at different price ranges. Keep in mind that the higher amount you are willing to pay for your adwords, the higher on the list your pay per click ad will appear when a search is made.

Earlier I mentioned someone who has found a method of reducing his online advertising costs to zero. His methods also provides a way to show a profit on the advertising side without the use of Adsense. I have bought his material, made some changes in what I was doing, and found that the money I spent was worth it.

Should you decide to see what he has to say, then simply click on the link that follows.

Article Writing

Article Writing is one of the most important & effective forms of marketing /promotion that guarantees your success & business profits. It is the ideal strategy to reach your target market and to compel them that you are the best! Article writing is not just limited to the internet, as you know, as there are many types of articles written for magazines, newspapers, and journals. Writing articles should be fun for those writers that don’t have to struggle to get the words down. For the rest of us, we’ll come back to that in a moment.

Internet surfers are always hungry for FREE advice/ideas/knowledge and if you can provide it to them, then you will be thought of as a trusted advisor. And once you establish yourself as a trusted advisor, then you will get more business. Internet surfers do not read every copy they find in websites. They just scan the titles and the first paragraph of your article.

Readers can tell when an author either knows little about what they are writing about or is not passionate about what they are writing about. We’ve all heard that the best way for an author to write effectively is to write about something they care about deeply. Your readers need facts, details, tips, and strategies, so include it. However, make your style of writing in a natural and relaxed way (you‘re not writing a college term paper, these people want to read what you say, not put themselves to sleep). Readers will know who you are and if your work is of quality they will come back on consistent basis. A big part of improving your profits is improving your readership and name branding assists in doing just that.

Should you choose to write articles for a company (ad promotion or newsletter), keywords that are related to the company should be used throughout the articles. These keywords are recognized by the search engine when someone types in a word to search for information. Keywords will be the catch all for the search engines. It looks as though the more you write the more chances your hard work will pay off for you.

Starting a home business is a dream that is shared by many people. Start with a website that provides value to its visitor. It does not matter if you are selling a product or giving information for free, it should be some thing that others desire. Start by looking at where you’ve been, because if you’re a “one in a million” person, then there are 7,000 people like you around the world.

Starting a home based business can be a bit scary at first but do not be fearful. You can easily get started by talking about your home based business just by creating a blog at one of the many free blog sites on the Internet. Start by making recurring money from your existing blog content There is no doubt that the demand for online content is colossally huge. You will have to show some patience, patience is the key to making money online.

Writing articles requires self confidence. If you lack this confidence, it will show in your writing. Authors obviously want tips on writing and with decent marketing budgets getting few and far between, they quite rightly search for articles on that all important subject: 'PROMOTION' .

Remember that at first glance your title must reflect the benefit they would receive from reading your article. Writing compelling titles is an art itself. Remember, this is an exercise to begin developing a quick way to knock out articles. Try and keep your articles to around 500-700 words per.

Jockeys can make a big difference.

In the world of professional sports, I'd have to say that jockeys are, pound for pound, the toughest guys out there. We're talking about people that weigh slightly more than 100 pounds soaking wet, and face some really serious injuries in their line of work.

They ride in all kinds of weather...from serious heat to the cold of winter. In the Chicago area, there are thoroughbred races taking place at a time of the year when sub-arctic winds are blowing across the race tracks.

They earn every cent of the money they make, in a sport they love.

Keep in mind that they do receive a fee just for getting on the back of a racehorse. Their main income is in the form of 10% of the purse money they bring in with race horses that finish 1st - 3rd.

I'll tell you about something that happened a few years back. I told a friend, at a previous job, that I made wagers on thoroughbred races. he became interested in them after hearing some of the stories I told, and asked if i could show him a few thinsg to look for. After work that day, I headed for the local off track betting parlor (OTB), and he met me there. We'd barely entered the place when I saw a race that was going to start in 5 minutes. Pat Day (one of the all time best jockeys) was on a horse that was going off at 12 - 1 odds.

"Huh."
"What? Is it something important?"
"Pat Day is a fantastic jockey. He tends to win 1 out of 3 times, so why is that horse at such high odds?"
"So, you're saying to bet on him."
"well, I am...don't know about you."

Pat went ahead and won the race. I picked up $135 for the $10 I bet on him. My friend picked up $270 (yep, he placed $20 to win).

What this all boils down to is: Jockeys who win, tend to win by carefully selecting which race horses they will ride. And the more they win, the more quality horses they are offered to ride.

Look at your racingform/track program and see if they have a win listing for the jockeys. Find your park's winningest jockey and watch for the times when he is on a high odds race horse.

Chances are, you may be looking at a very good possible investment.

A free horse racing system

I'd like to ask that you leave a comment to this post. If you have used this system, and liked it (or hated it), please leave a comment.

This is posted on my other webpage (http://freehorseracingsystem.org/), but since deciding to blog, I thought that I should go ahead and copy it to here. I hope that those of you who enjoy thoroughbred racing can enjoy this as well

Have you ever wondered if what you know about horseracing is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on horseracing.

If you’ve found your way here, it means that you’re looking for something that make money from at the racetrack or off-track wagering site (or make money online). Right off the top, I will say that this is not designed for harness racing, or dog races. I did come up with it as a way to make money through thoroughbred horse racing in the USA (but you should skip Maiden races).

Longshot Winners with a 31% hit rate!! Click here to find out how

Before going into more detail, let’s consider 3 things.

1: Morning Line odds. These are the odds you see in the newspaper, racing forms and track programs. Along with the next point, it's possible to see extra income.

2: Long Shots. You will have your own opinions about what makes a horse a longshot. Still, you may have noticed that horses with 6 to 1 (6-1) morning line odds tend to win races more often than those with higher odds. Keep this number in mind, it’s going to be very important to you soon as a way to earn money.

3: The horse’s previous race.Yep, you’re going to have to get your hands on a track program, racing form….something that will show you the horses most recent race. Due to may online sites, you can acquire these past performances and make money from home thru the internet.

Let’s get started.
This won’t be something you can use on every race. The reason why is very simple. You’re not going to find a horse that meets the criteria in every race. You’re probably going to find 2 to 3 horses each day per track. Don’t get discouraged, in this age of simulcasts at tracks and off-track sites ( not to mention internet sites for those of you who want to work from home), you may easily have 10 or more horses each day.

Point 1: Look at the horses as listed in your track program (or racing form) for the race. There should be a “Speed” figure assigned for each horse for it’s last race. Circle the horses that are in the top half of speed (these are the ones who should be in the money). Example:

Horse # , Speed last Race, Last race finish, M/L odds
1 Speed:82 Finish:1st ML: 5-2
2 Speed: 54 Finish:9th ML:20-1
3 Speed:85 Finish:2nd ML:5-1
4 Speed:77 Finish:4th ML:6-1
5 Speed: 46 Finish:8th ML: 20-1
6 Speed:83 Finish:1st ML:9-2
7 Speed:75 Finish:3rd ML:12-1
8 Speed:84 Finish:3rd ML:8-1
9 Speed:35 Finish:10th ML:6-1
10 Speed:85 Finsih:1st ML:10-1

These are horses from a actual race. I’m using this one because it did present a interesting problem….but I’ll get back to that in a moment. Okay, in looking at the race, since there are 10 horses we will be looking for the Top 5 speed horses. That gives us the selections of #1 (82), #3 (85), #6 (83), #8 (84), and #10 (85).

Point 2: The horse has to have finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in it’s last race. In looking over our selections, all of them passes this point.

Point 3: The horse has to have Morning Line Odds of 6-1 or higher. This particular selection process tends towards 1 winner out of every 6 wagers made. So odds of 6 to 1 and up guarantees a profit built in.
Horses #8 and # 10 are the only ones to clear this last point.

Is everything making sense so far? If not, I'm sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

So, which one to choose, right?
Simple answer, you don’t, you go ahead and bet them both.

If you had 3 horses (or more ) after using the 3rd point, then you would skip the race. As long as it’s just 2 horses, go ahead and bet them both to win (Place bet if you want to play it safe). You’re probably wondering what the results of this race was…..especially since you went thru all the trouble of reading this:

February 24,2008 Fair Grounds Racetrack
Race # 2 Horse Win Place Show
1st 8 El Salsero 42.60 14.40 10.00
2nd 3 Its Bailey's Time 8.40 6.40
3rd 7 South Beach Boy 7.40

If you’d wagered on #8 and #10 at the $2 level, you would have spent $4 and received $42.60 for your win bet.

Earlier, I mentioned that this plan tends to show 1 win out of every 6 wagers made.

In fact, for that particular day there were 4 other races with 1 horse selected in each. Those horses did not win. The money you would have paid out would have been $12, and the money you would have received would have been $42.60. That would be a ROI (return on investment) of $3.55 for each $1 risked. Not a bad way to earn money, right?

In keeping with that idea, I would like to say that it is best to start with a wagering bankroll aimed at being able to make 20 bets at the same amount. So if you’re a $5 bettor, then you’d need to have a $100 bankroll. You should see 3 winners out of those 20 bets, and the payouts tend to be good enough where you would easily double your starting bankroll.

Now you can be a confident expert on horseracing. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on horseracing.
